eSIM setup guide (iOS)

[Updated]

Automatic detection on iOS devicesis now supported.
Installing the eSIM now configures the APN automatically.

This guide explains the setup procedure on an iPhone (iOS 16.1.1).

Please make sure the iOS version on the device you plan to use is up to date.

 *Before you start

  •  To download and set up your eSIM,a Wi-Fi connection is required
  • If you set it up by scanning a QR code, you will need[a second device to display the QR code]or[a printout of the QR code].
  • If you are asked for a password during setup, enter the [device passcode] you set yourself.
  • If you delete the details of an eSIM once it has been installed,it can only be reinstalled on [the same device]. Please note that it cannot be used on a different device.
  • If a configuration profile from another SIM card remains on your device, our eSIM may not work. Please delete any other configuration profiles before using our eSIM.

*For those travelling to Japan from overseas

  • Our eSIM starts counting from the day you begin using the connection, so we recommend that youinstall the eSIM over Wi-Fi before you travel, or when you arrive at the airport in Japan.
  • The eSIM is activated once it picks up a signal within Japan.
  • While you are in Japan, be sure to turn off the settings below so that your own carrier does not bill you.
  1. Settings > Mobile Data > Mobile Data Options >turn off Allow Mobile Data Switching
